Control of Poisons and Explosives Precursors Regulations 2023

Effective from the 1st of October 2023, the Home Office has made amendments to the Control of Poisons and Explosives Precursors Regulations 2023.

Effective from the 1st of October 2023, the Home Office has made amendments to the Control of Poisons and Explosives Precursors Regulations 2023.

These changes introduce new substances, specifically ammonium nitrate, to the lists of regulated explosives precursors. This applies to fertilisers containing ammonium nitrate with a nitrogen content of 16% or higher.

From 1st October businesses that supply regulated explosives precursors to professional users and other businesses will need to take additional steps to verify the legitimacy of the user or business. This means that before supplying any fertiliser containing ammonium nitrate, we will be required by law to have photographic identification from you. This should be:

  • Photographic ID of the business customer or authorized representative, showing details of the name of the person. Passport, driving license, trade card, and travel pass are all acceptable formats. (Please note that only one photographic ID is necessary to allow any member of your business to make a purchase.)

To ensure uninterrupted supply after October 1st, 2023, we kindly request that our customers submit a copy of their photographic ID as soon as possible. Customers can provide this information through the following methods:

  • Sending a new email to photoid@glassongrain.co.uk - Please include only your account reference number in the subject line

  • Handing a copy of your ID directly to your Glasson Fertilisers representative.

When submitting your photographic ID, please include your account reference number, name and address of your business for our records.

Should you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact a member of our team.
